Elude Designing Depression-Rusch

Elude is a game to foster empathy about depression, but runs into a fundamental problem that play is about control, and depression is about loss (of control). Decided to give the player some, only to wrench it away at opportune moments.

Built an upward platformer where the platforms would slowly fall down. Built a waterfall you struggled to swim up. Built vines that pull you under as you jumped from forest branch to forest branch.

Birds flitted about in this forest as they pointed the way to happiness.
