Simplistically, autonomy is being free from restrictions.
- We consent to rules when we participate in a society, when we impose rules on ourselves for self-control.
- I’m not sure I agree. Sure I may impose the rule on myself not to smoke for my own health, but true autonomy would be the ability to smoke without worrying about the consequences.
