things I was wrong about

This note last modified July 28, 2026

Stay humble, note when you’re wrong about something.

  • I used to think buying a lottery ticket was the stupidest thing ever, an objective waste of money. Thing is, for just a few dollars, you can buy hope. Dream of what you’d do with the winnings, even if it probably won’t happen. Losing a few dollars won’t change your day to day life, but winning definitely will, so might as well exchange “no difference” for “small chance of huge difference”.
    • I know this sounds minor, but I think it was a huge step in just… not being judgemental about other people’s perceived irrational decisions.
  • I used to be super pro self driving cars, and now I’m in favor of banning all cars. (To be clear, that’s a joke, my better thoughts are here.)
