games - good endings

This note last modified September 1, 2024

Some games have an ending that basically says “congratulations! You made all the right choices, did all the right things, and you get the happy ending!”

Achieving this can be a fun challenge for players and an interesting thing to have in your game, but depending on the type of game, this can lead to an uncritical acceptance of the things the player has done and has similar problems to a metriced morality system. Frostpunk is a good example of how this can feel hollow.
