Apparently synonymous with inquiry learnining according to Problem And Inquiry Based Learning Response To Clark-Hmelo-Silver, and similar to discovery learning.
Should be real feeling, but not so real feeling that students forget that they are in a learning, safe situation. If students get emotionally entangled in the situation, they lose the learning benefits (not sure to what extent I agree…) - Framework For Transformative Reflection Design-Slovak (perceived realness is more important than the level to which it is actually staged / real)
