Academia is smart people who want to change the world that are given absolutely no power to do so. This often leads to people trying to solve massively systemic issues through the limited tools they have. It’ll nearly always fail, but you have to respect the effort.
The temptation of clarity is so tempting because, if there are evil people in the world, then evil can be removed by identifying and removing those individuals, instead of thinking about how to create systemic change.
